Eric Steinkamp, PhD - Board Chair
Eric is a Professor of Biology at Northwest University in Kirkland, WA. He also has a Master of Divinity degree. Eric teaches one of the summer college courses at PRI - Alpine Ecology. He is an avid outdoors-person and hikes all across the state of Washington and beyond with his wife Daniela.
Paula Mihok - Treasurer
Paula and her husband Ted, both of whom are very active with the Central Whidbey Lions Club, live in Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island. They have been donors and volunteers for over five years. Paula has an event service called "Painture Face", and has done face painting at PRI events such as the Whidbey Island Cider Festival and Whidbey Raptor Day. Paula is currently the Missions and Outreach Director for her church.
Chloe Houle - Secretary
Chloe lives in Seattle and is a teacher. She took college courses at PRI and is a graduate of Bethel College, Minnesota. Chloe has volunteered at PRI for over five years.
Teresa Ellis - Trustee
Teresa, a long term volunteer at PRI has served as Treasurer in 2019 and 2020. She is a member of the Coupeville Lions Club and is active in many community based and charitable events on Whidbey Island. Teresa also served as the President of the Penn Cove Water Festival.
Ronald J. Vos, PhD - Trustee
Dr. Ron Vos has a long association with PRI. He has taught the Ecological Agriculture course at PRI since 1999. He has been a professor of agriculture and environmental studies at Dordt University, Sioux Center, IA since 1985 and now has emeritus status. He has a Masters degree in environmental science and Ph.D in agronomy. The concept of stewardship of Creation has been an integral part of his entire life.
Ron brings a broad background as a trustee. He has experience promoting sustainable agriculture in several countries with his most recent work being in Uganda and Zambia. He has been working on a sustainable agriculture curriculum for Northrise University in Noda, Zambia for the past several years. He has served on a wide variety of boards including his current service on the board of ECHO a faith-based organization in Florida that provides agricultural information to people in tropical areas. Ron and his wife Nancy own and operate their own farm in northwest Iowa where they raise crops and sheep. They are the parents of three grown children and enjoy traveling internationally and visiting their grandchildren.
Carol Heimgartner - Trustee
Carol served one term as a PRI Trustee and has joined the Board again in November 2020. She is the proprietor of Big Rock Designs in Coupeville and has been a PRI volunteer and donor for over ten years. She brings 30+ years of local knowledge to the board having served on several other community boards as a member and officer and the Coupeville Town Planning Commission Chairman. Her favorite saying: In all ranks of life the human heart yearns for the beautiful; and the beautiful things that God makes are His gift to all alike. - Harriet Beecher Stowe
Joseph K. Sheldon, PhD - Trustee
Dr. Sheldon previously served as Vice-Chair of the PRI Board of Trustees. He is retired from over 30 years of teaching at Eastern University and Messiah College and now resides with his wife Donna on Whidbey Island. Joe got his Ph.D. in entomology from the University of Illinois.
