Robert K. Pelant, DVM
Dr. Pelant is the founding director of the Pacific Rim Institute (PRI). He was the director for the Au Sable campus here from 2005 – 2009 before starting PRI. Before coming to Whidbey, Robert spent most of his professional life as a veterinarian working with animal health and welfare, sustainable development and ecological restoration. He has worked with native tribes in North America as well as indigenous groups in many different countries including: China, Nicaragua, Viet Nam, Peru, Mongolia, Uganda, Nepal, Laos and Thailand. He has a strong desire to connect culture and community with local ecology and it is his dream and vision that feeds life into the Pacific Rim Institute.
